YieldBuild WordPress Plugin Request

YieldBuild On WordPress

I have been experimenting with YieldBuild on this experimental, self hosted WordPress blog for a month now and I like what I see, but I would really love a plugin for WordPress with similar funcionality to the All In One AdSense and YPN Plugin with better control over how the random function is used, but made to work with Yieldbuild,  though. I really think YieldBuild can work wonders for WP blogs in ways that they’ve yet to cash in on. One way is by looking into WordPress plugins meant to enhance AS and creating their own plugin that integrates and improves their functions but for YieldBuild scripts.

I’d love to see the functionality of YieldBuild integrated into a Wordpress Plugin that allows webmaster to randomize ad placement location and sizes. Right now I can’t use my AS plugins since YieldBuild uses their own script so I hope they consider a plugin tailored to their script. A WP plugin with the YieldbBuild script embedded within it may be an added way of  getting the most out of AS, YB, and WP. All you have to do is input your YB site number, choose a couple of ad sizes that fit into a post without having to dig into your single.php file.

Imagine creating a YieldBuild Zone for every possible size ad that can fit your template without distorting the layout of your blog theme or readability, list them within the plugin and when content is pulled up the plugin randomly grabs one of those zones and randomizes its location within the post or wherever you place your AS code. At the same time a zone is picked and placed, YieldBuild itself will optimize the chosen ad in its usual manner.

Imagine having an in_post300×250 zone and another in_post468×60 zone and the plugin automatically tabs between those two ad sizes and also tabs between having the 300×250 ad appear at the top right of your content or top left of your content  on autopilot. If the 468×60 ad size is chosen it can probably be placed in far more locations without looking ugly. It can be above, within, or below the content. The point is to see these ads changing color, fonts, etc, like usual, with the added task of automated location placement and testing.  You can even go a step further and have the plugin track which location the ad was in when it was clicked on, combined with the format YieldBuild chose through its normal routine, but that’s another story and probably not necessary yet.

Many YieldBuild users already claim AS earnings  increased in double-digit percentages. I think if someone wrote (or rewrote) a plugin that allows you to just provide your Yield Build ID like existing AdSense plugins, publishers (and YieldBuild) would increase earnings even more.

YieldBuild does not get involved with ad location but I feel they should consider this option for blogs. YieldBuild can make the plugin optional, let a handful of select YieldBuild members test it (I’ll be the first to volunteer)  before releasing it to all YieldBuild members. Provide the obligatory earning/results disclaimers, and let users know that it’s just an optional tool for blog owners. Basically no guarantees, and the ability to remove the plugin and go back to manually inserting their YieldBuild code into their blog as we’ve already been doing it. It wouldn’t be any different than their existing disclaimer, just an added option for members that use the service for a blog.

In my opinion this request can be fulfilled in a breeze by experienced WordPress plugin designers, but I’d prefer YieldBuild to take on this task.  I believe that Paul Edmondson, Jay Reitz or Paul Deeds have enough knowledge to write a WordPress plugin that can enhance their service (I hope these guys have Google Alerts set up). If current YieldBuild personell have no experience with WordPress plugins they can easily outsource this task to the existing WordPress community, quite possibly for a very low price, or even free. At the bare minimum YB is aware of plugins since they mention them on their YieldBuild blog.

If YieldBuild creates the plugin it also creates another selling point for blog publishers to sign up for a YieldBuild account. I think YieldBuild is great but they can capitalize on self-hosted WordPress blogs in a better way. This is the way I’d capitalize if I worked for YieldBuild.

Can you imagine the optimization and testing options this would create for blog publishers that already use YieldBuild? YieldBuild is a great service, combine that with a WordPress plugin with that sort of control and you’ve got a beast.

YieldBuild, what do you think? How about a WP plugin that can at least allow us to swap size and location of an ad, even if there is no feature for randomizing ad locations?

WordPress plug-in designers, what do you think?

Bloggers what do you think? Would you use the plugin, if it were created? What features would you like integrated into the plugin?
